Michael Miller's Kashmir Gardens by Sarah Campbell
Â
Paisleys and roses are traditional motifs in textile design - highly decorative, full of colour and pattern, able to flourish or sit quietly still. We haven't seen much of them lately. In 2015 I put up a small exhibition 'The Art of Pattern' at London's Fashion and Textile Museum which showed some of the work Susan and I did for Liberty of London Prints in the '60s and '70s. I was struck again by the wealth and variety of the paisleys we painted and many visitors were equally enchanted by them. As a result, I started thinking about ornamental design again and Kashmir Gardens began to grow.Â
